PCL Construction

PCL Construction is the largest general contractor in Canada. An international and entirely employee owned company, my time at PCL allowed me to explore many different types of media, building both office and field relationships, and having a much wider audience to my work than ever before. Take a look below to see some of my projects with PCL.

As one of the first co-op students to hold the role of Multimedia Student at PCL Toronto, I had the opportunity to shape the way that the district recorded and created content. In my time with PCL I influenced the equipment that we used, such as the Insta360 x3, created new file organization systems, introduced the editing software frame.io, and was able to teach other team members how to use software like Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.

My experience at PCL allowed me to grow in so many ways. Without a background in construction, I learned something new every day, and learned how to conduct interviews and ask questions that prompt comprehensive, interesting, and exciting answers. I also got the opportunity to work with lots of people who are experts in their individual fields, but aren't camera trained, so I was able to improve my

skills in making subjects feel comfortable and confident on camera. I worked with people from SickKids, Cadillac Fairview, George Brown College, and of course PCL, and expanded my knowledge on how businesses run and how to best document the amazing work being done at PCL.

Some of the most exciting projects I got to work on were Cadillac Farview 160 Front Street West, George Brown College's Limberlost Place, and also hanging the iconic art work "Flight Stop" up in the Eaton Centre. A photo of mine from 160 Front Street West was put on the cover of On-Site Magazine, a definite highlight of my content creating career!
